2023 has been an exciting year for the Homeroom community! Our Earth Rangers Clubs program re-launched (and the number of clubs is growing fast!), educators from across the country took our popular Eco-Anxiety to Eco-Action Micro Credential, and classes contributed to positive eco-action through loads of fun activities and contests! Below, you will find a round up of some of our favourite activities of the year. Ways to Protect the Planet Game – Each team puts their knowledge of actions that can be taken to protect the planet to the test! Which team will come out on top?
Off We Go – This game demonstrates the positive effects of conservation on habitat loss and fragmentation through paper airplanes. Who will make it to their final destination?
What a Peculiar Animal! Students learn about animal adaptations and design their own peculiar animal. Need inspiration? Check out some Peculiar Animals created by students across the country.
Where is your t-shirt from? Students brainstorm solutions to reduce our environmental impact using at the example of clothes as a starting point.
Inspiring Eco-Action through Storytelling – Inspired by real-life stories, students see that it is possible to make a difference and will begin by sharing messages of hope with others.
This year, Canadian Grades 6 to 12 classes* are invited to submit proposals, with the help of their teachers, for creative, technology-based solutions that address environmental challenges. Your class could with the grand prize of $50,000 and the title “The School for Tomorrow”!
Second and third prize are $10,000 each. The five finalists have the chance to with $5,000 worth of Samsung technology for their schools.
Contest submissions are open now until January 31st, 2024.
